Shovels and the Scriptures – Episode 2

Bridgett and Justin continue TC’s summer-long archaeological and biblical exploration. In this episode, we have a look at a remarkably preserved mausoleum structure excavated at Pompeii and its detailed, in-set sculptural depiction of a ship typical of the New Testament era. We then trace one of the routes travelled by the Apostle Paul on the Mediterranean Sea, and we consider how he likely was in a ship similar to the one depicted at Pompeii! Episode 2 ends with an invitation (and helpful guidance) to memorize a faith-raising promise in the Scriptures upon which we (like Paul, in his literal sea-journeys) can look to as we navigate the circumstances of life: “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act” (Psalm 37:5).
