Shovels and the Scriptures – Episode 1
Welcome to this opening episode of Trinity Canton’s summer and fall podcast series, Shovels and the Scriptures. Trinity Canton loves the Bible, and we invite you to join us in a biblical and archaeological adventure! Like archaeologists, we aim to “unearth” inscriptions, pottery, centuries-old “trash,” and other artifacts that reveal some aspect of the lives, experiences, and attitudes of people who lived in the Old and New Testament eras. That’s the “shovels” part; like museum curators do, we want to put on (video) display what biblical archaeologists have found. For the “scriptures” part, we will highlight–and help you dare to memorize!–verses from the Bible that connect with the physical artifacts that archaeologists have unearthed. In this video podcast, we talk about graffiti, and we invite you to join in memorizing Deuteronomy 6:6,9: “These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.”
